Costas Kyriakides Photographer

I was born in Famagusta, Cyprus in 1962 and live and work in the Famagusta area of Ayia Napa and Paralimni primarily as a full-time wedding photographer. I also spend some time on commercial photography and for my own private collection of nature, landscape and people. Travel photography and photo journalism also interest me.

I was awarded Fellow of the Master Photographers Association (FMPA), The Fellowship in The Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers (FSINWP), the Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS), the Associateship of the British Institute of Professional Photographers (ABIPP), the Associateship of the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (ASWPP), the Associateship of the British Professional Photographers Association (ABPPA), Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), and the award of Excellence of the Federation Internationale de l'Art Photographique (EFIAP).

Commercial and Advertising Photographer of the year 2009. With the MPA at the aunnual Competition Newcastle, UK 2009.

Winner of the BIPP Annual Competition Cosford, UK 2009

Fellowship of the Master Photographer's Association. I was awarded the highest distinction, Fellow of the Master Photographer's Association on the 19th of August 2009.   

Landscape Photographer of the Year 2007 of the British Professional Photographers Association (BPPA) and the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP).

Nature and Environmental Photographer of the Year 2006 of the British Professional Photographers Association (BPPA) and the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP).

Operating as a Reuter photojournalist in 1996, I covered live the events in Dherinia, near Famagusta, when the Turks beat to death one Greek Cypriot and shot another during an anti-occupation protest. These sensational images were circulated by the international media, including the Guardian (front page), Le Figaro (front page), Stern magazine, Newsweek magazine, throughout the world. For this unique achievement, I was awarded a special medallion by the Cyprus government.

I have published a booklet of the old churches in the Famagusta district and the Cyprus geographic magazine, both including my own photographs.
